Tom Rutherdale - President

Hello, my name is Tom Rutherdale, and I’ve been living in Cambridge Bay for over 11 years. Here, I am happily raising two wonderful children with my fiancée, Denise. About a year after I moved here, we adopted Marley, my first-ever dog—a border collie/husky mix—and I’ve been a passionate dog lover ever since.

I joined Northern Canine Rescue to support the many dogs in Cambridge Bay and to contribute my leadership and expertise in northern logistics to this meaningful cause. In addition to my work with the rescue, I stay busy leading an energy contracting business by day and volunteering with the Cambridge Bay Childcare Society.

In my free time, I enjoy northern pastimes like fishing and camping trips by snowmobile and ATV. One of my favourite activities is kiteboarding on the frozen ocean, often accompanied by Marley.

Lisa Wedge - Vice President

Hello, my name is Lisa Wedge. I've been in Cambridge Bay since March 2015. I'm a huge animal and nature lover. You'll see me frequently dog sitting at homes around Cambridge Bay while people are out on duty travel or vacation. I am pictured here with Lily & Nala, two dogs that I dog sit. I'm also a certified dog groomer and have groomed a fair share of the community’s dogs and cats, either at our yearly vet clinic in the summer or through out the year.

Jen Angohiatok- Board Member

Hi! My name is Janine (Jen) Angohiatok and I’m a 32 years old Inuk woman, born and raised here in Cambridge Bay. I am a mom of 2 humans, and 1 fur baby. I have had dogs the entirety of my life, and they play a HUGE role in my family and I's lives. I look forward to keeping my volunteering relationship open with NCR as long as I can. My son is excited and always willing to help with vaccines and how to better care for pets as well.

Katelyn Campbell Barker-Board Member

Hi, I’m Kate! I’ve been lucky enough to call Nunavut my home for the past 7 years -5 years in Cambridge Bay. My husband, Cory Barker, and I have cherished every moment here. We have a rescue dog named Ardy, a 6-year-old husky-terrier mix who came from another Nunavut community. To say I love him is an understatement—so much so that I even have a tattoo of him on my ankle! Our beautiful community faces a challenge with a surplus of dogs, as we're remote and lack access to veterinary services for spaying and neutering. That’s why I joined NCR, to help foster and re-home dogs that have been surrendered. Every dog deserves a chance to find love and a forever home, and I’m passionate about helping make that happen.

Cory Barker- Treasurer

I'm Cory Barker, and I've been living in Cambridge Bay for six years. My wife and I share a Husky-Terrier mix named Ardy, who’s originally from Arviat, Nunavut. He brings so much joy to our lives, and I can’t imagine our family without him. When we're off work, we love to spend time together at the cabin, whether it’s fishing, camping, or just enjoying the outdoors.
